Why is it when you take a job...

Why is it when you accept a job that everyone starts calling with interviews and job offers? Freaking employers. I got a call from a technical school today wanting me to interview for a job I was a finalist for in early May, but did not get for lack of experience. Seems the more experienced person flaked out and they are seeking a last minute replacement. YAH FOR ME!! Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. Wish me luck.

Just for the record I am working a 2 to 9 schedule and I know most of my crew works during the morning hours, and is off in the afternoons. Do not take it personally if I have not returned your calls. I will be getting in touch. Anyone care if I call after 10?

Heart Broken...

Let's just start by saying I got a new job. Pays relatively well with a chance to make a lot more money down the road if I am good at it, and I guess that is all you can hope for. The only down side is it is five days a week 10-7:30 p.m. and Saturday's from 10-2ish. At least it will pay the bills until I get back to TA-ing in the fall. I hate to admit this but all I have been thinking for the last few weeks is I miss teaching and grad school. Yep, thats right, I am a nerd. I finished Lolita, and I am about half way through Money by Martin Amis. Both are Fabolous.

As for the Mavs...Let's just say I am devastated and leave it at that. I think we were screwed by the refs and the NBA and I would be a lot less hurt if I thought the better team won, and not that the better team was screwed. My brother brought up a good point: My beloved Horns won the National Championship this year, and if the Mavs had won too I would have used up all my good fortune for the rest of my life.

Touche, Honky.

As my brother said: if I had to choose one to win the championship which would I choose? The Horns hands down. I guess having two of my four favorite teams (Mavs, Horns, Boys, and Rangers) win the championship in the same year would have be extremely lucky. However, training camp is only like a month a way and we have TO leading us to the Super Bowl followed by him causing Bill Parcell's premature death the year after that to look forward to and the Mavs have to be the favorite in the West until Stoudamire is proven healthy next year. I still feel like I don't want to talk about it, and I think the Mavs-Heat series can be filed under the "let us never speak of this again" tag.

FUCK THE HEAT...IM OUT.

Pro Sports are Fixed...

This goes back to my previous post about the Super Bowl. I think the refs in pro sports bet on the games and influence the outcomes to make the spreads. They gave the game to the Heat last night. NO WAY THAT WAS A FOUL ON WADE. I retract my previous Jordan-esque comparison because he is a flop artist.

I did not sleep after that devastating loss, and I think this might be one of the "heartbreaker moments" that Bill Simmons always rights about. Two things will go down in history: Dirk missing that Free Throw, and Howard pulling a Webber and calling that timeout. I think I take sports way too seriously but I am really am depressed about that loss. I have perk up because I have a job interview in an hour and a half.

I think we are being set up for an even more heartbreaking loss in Game 7. I pray that even if we lose this series somebody on the Mavs finds some balls to make Wade pay for all these flops and shitty calls. Stack should have fouled him hard instead of Shaq.

GO MAVS! LETS WIN THIS FUCKER!!!

Fucking Mavericks....

The freaking Mavericks seem bound and determined to give me an aneurysm. That sound you are hearing could be the sound of the season going down in fucking flames. First they piss away a 13 point lead with 6:48 to go in Game 3, because our brilliant head coach, who is having the BEST season EVER for a first time coach, inexplicably goes away from the bread and butter offense of pushing and controlling the pace of the game to a slow down spread out offense that cost us Game 6 against the Spurs. Why would stay with it so long? Why wait until there is only three or four seconds left on the shot clock before forcing a shot, and why let the Heat back in the game. He did the same thing in Game 2 but the Heat could not make enough shots to get back in the game but it allowed them to whittle down a lead from 27 to 12.

Why not stick with shots that come within the flow of the offense? I have said this repeatedly: the secret to basketball is putting your team in position to make high percentage shots, and not fall in love with the 3 pointer. When you make shots it puts pressure on the other team, but when you wait until there is not time on the clock and take bad shots it puts pressure on YOUR team. Game 4 really startled me not because the Mavericks shot so poorly, because every team has a bad game, but what scares me is that no one seemed to step up except for Stackhouse and try to take control of the game. Everyone was settling for bad jumpers instead of driving to the hoop and challenging Shaq and Zo, and everyone had the deer in the headlights look.

Here is the most concerning part: They quit in the 4th quarter. You can say what you want but they mavs laid it down in the fourth and I have NEVER seen the Mavericks do that in a game this year. Not even when the Black Mamba dropped 62 on them through 3 quarters. Man it was disheartening.

Another question: When did Michael Jordan come out of retirement? Oh wait, he didn't, that was Dwyane Wade willing the Heat to the victory, dropping threes, and scoring at will against my beloved Mavs. To say I am nervous about Sunday is an understatement. We have to win this Game or the Mavs pysche may irreparably harmed.

I am not jumping off the band wagon here, but I am worried. I suffered through an 11-71 season, and was there when Jackson dropped like 35 to avoid becoming the worst team in NBA history. All I can say LET'S GO MAVS! and I fucking hate Pat Riley. He may be the basketball Anti-Christ.

This man may very well be the basketball Jesus. That moniker was previously reserved for the one and only Larry Bird. Last night he firmly entered into the "Larry Bird Pantheon of Legends." The Diggler may also be the man to deliver us to the promise land. We need to win a championship while we can because it looks like this LeBron kid is going to be something super special next year.

However, last night Dirk poured in 50 points and 12 rebounds. He single handedly propelled the Mavericks to victory. He scored 28 of the Mavs last 42 points, and Charles Barkely said it reminded him of MJ's 63 pointer against the Cavs. That is some mighty high praise from Sir Charles who has had nothing but venom for The Diggler all season. However, Sir Charles is banded from the Maverick bandwagon because we are afraid he would destory the bandwagon buffet. Hey, the man can eat.

MAVS OVER THE SUNS 117-101. Back to Phoenix. Let's hope they can close this thing out, and get ready for the Finals. Bring on the Pistons/Heat.
